Need Directions?

In this performance-turned-service, participants, identifiable by the universal symbol for information, will walk around New York City's Meatpacking neighborhood giving directions in German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, French, Swedish, Korean, Mandarin or Hindi to tourists. Participants use NYC maps and give advice on routes and destinations to assist and make connection with foreigners, making their vacation or journey a more pleasant one. Photo gallery here.

Part of the large Art In Odd Places (AiOP) festival. Every October, AiOP takes over 14th Street; this year they have 60 artists creating a range of original works from performance to installation throughout the month.More on the AiOP 2009 Festival: http://www.artinoddplaces.org/
